Main News: Hyperliquid Labs Unstakes Tokens for an OTC Sale

Hyperliquid Labs is unstaking 3.75 million HYPE tokens, worth approximately $329 million, as part of the project's regular October team token payout. Co-founder iliensinc disclosed the plan on Hyperliquid's Discord server.

Unlike a typical team unlock, the entire batch is being sold through an over-the-counter (OTC) transaction to a single institutional buyer rather than released onto the open market.

    Key details of the arrangement:

    • Tokens involved: 3.75 million HYPE, about 1.5% of circulating supply

    • Buyer: one institutional investor, not publicly named

    • Sale method: private OTC transaction, not an open-market sale

    • Distribution timing: tokens are scheduled to reach the Hyperliquid team in October

    • Unstaking period: seven days on Hyperliquid

No lock-up period for the buyer has been publicly disclosed.

HYPE ETF Demand Cools Alongside the Token News

Separately, Hyperliquid's HYPE-focused ETFs saw demand ease this week. HYPE ETFs recorded $5.03 million in outflows on Wednesday, a reversal from $9.25 million in inflows the previous week.

The outflow followed two consecutive days of zero inflows earlier in the week. For the month of September overall, HYPE ETFs closed with $6.86 million in net outflows.

HYPE itself moved 2% lower on Thursday, trimming a rebound of more than 5% logged the day before. Traders watching HYPE trading activity across these swings can get live data through SpotX.
